Craftsmanship at its finest, the 151 cabinet offers real wood and the features you are looking for in an Amish made heirloom quality sewing cabinet. Completely closed it shows its beauty as a piece of sewing furniture that can double as a side table in a dining room or bedroom.
Numerous characteristics in the workmanship make this sewing cabinet stand out.
Full Extension drawers also have dovetail details that give strength to the corners of your drawers. With a total of 4 drawers, you can enjoy organizing your sewing supplies.
The doors have magnets inset into the wood to help the doors close properly. When the doors swing back against the cabinet, the magnets help them to stay put - out of your way to sit and sew.
Solid wood is used on the top, fronts, and sides. The Back of the cabinet and the bottom are made of plywood. There is no veneer used at all.
As a small woodshop, attention to detail is their expertise at Flat Ridge Furniture. This keeps the quality of your sewing cabinet high. Utilizing their materials, waste is very minimal at this small shop even the drop-offs are burnt to provide heat in the shop. Efficiency is considered every step of the way by doing more at a time when it is possible.
The sewing cabinet sits on soft-tread casters making it easy to move it around in your room. Locking casters are not necessary with such a solidly built cabinet - the weight keeps your cabinet in place unless you push it.
A 27" kneehole gives you ample room to move in and out of your cabinet to sew. This larger kneehole is wonderful! Think of how many times you move your chair in and out of the kneehole as you are working on a project. The ample room makes it so much easier!
If you love this design, but just don't quite have enough room, take a look at Flat Ridge Furniture 152 Sewing Cabinet. It has a 24" kneehole.
There is an optional 14" drop leaf for the full length of the base cabinet (not the flip-out extensions). This is supported by a wood corner in the center of the dropleaf.
Be sure to measure your sewing machine to know if it fits in the sewing machine hole. In order for the acrylic insert to fit well, you need 2 extra inches around your sewing machine.
The base price of this sewing cabinet is made out of Brown Soft Maple or Red Oak. You have options of more wood choices.
This custom-made cabinet takes about 18 weeks to be made for you.
You are Responsible to check the Sewing Machine Hole Size
Be sure to measure your sewing machine with all attachments removed. For the best fit, allow 2 extra inches around your machine for the insert to fit well. The extra 2" also allows room for your machine to raise and lower freely with the lift and the sewing machine cords.
The standard sewing machine opening size can be found in the specifications.
The price is for Brown Soft Maple or Red Oak.
Rustic Hickory, Regular Cherry, Hard Maple, and Quarter Sawn White Oak are also available. With the prices of wood being so volatile we need to ask for a quote on them before ordering.
Sew Steady Cabinet Insets & Inserts are designed to fit your specific make and model of sewing machine and cabinet and fill gaps around your sewing area*, allowing you to work more efficiently and comfortably. They are made with one of the highest grades of acrylic.
All the inserts are designed based on having the accessory tray removed from the machine. The insert is designed to be perfectly level with the free arm of the machine. If you have a top-loading bobbin this may affect your use.
Occasionally those that are custom cutting the insert will have additional questions about your sewing machine, or the hole that they are fitting, and you will be asked more questions.
The lift is German-made. It is a pneumatic lift that is operated by pushing down a little (1/4" to 1/2") to release its current position. Once it is released, you can let it rise or push further down to lower your sewing machine.
The heavy-duty lift is suitable for sewing machines 34 pounds and up.
There are three stopping spots that are adjustable for your machine.
- The highest is the free arm position
- Flatbed sewing is the middle position that is level with your sewing table. In this position, you will use an acrylic insert around your sewing machine.
- The lowest position is for storing your sewing machine away.
